John Corson has a family argument with his father and moved out leaving his father unable to cook, get to doctor appointments, or pay his mortgage payment.

The same day Leol Corson called his granddaughter, Jill Beck, asking if she would help. Leol was worried about being left alone, without food or transportation, and without financial help needed to pay his bills.

Jill Beck traveled to Leol's home to meet with Leol. Jill's cousin, Katie Corson, was already present and was talking with Leol. Wiping away tears, Leol told them both "I don't know what I'm going to do."

Jill asked Leol if he wanted to move into a home that she and her husband were looking to purchase. Leol emotionally said, "This is my home. I've lived here all my life. Please don't make me leave my home." She assured Leol she would do everything she could to help him stay in the home, and that the Corson family should meet to talk about what to do.

The Corson family met together to discuss Leol's needs and brainstorm possible resolutions, including in home care, hired, transportation, and prepared meal delivery. Leol was not fond of any of these ideas.

The family unanimously decided to visit with Leol's long time attorney - Jim Gallagher of Gallagher, Villeneuve and DeGeer.

Leol and other family members met with Jim Gallagher to discuss what to do to safeguard Leol.

Mr. Gallagher discouraged other ideas like as a reverse mortgage, but instead suggested that a family member's purchase of his home (and assuming the mortgage debt) may be the best way to keep Leol in his own home and prevent foreclosure.

Everyone present agreed that only Jake and Jill were in a financial position to do this and were the only family who were willing to directly help Leol.

Jake and Jill Beck send email exchanges back and forth with Jim Gallagher to further discuss the logistics of how and when a possible purchase might need to happen.

In full support Jim Gallagher responds, "Time is on our side, but Leol can't wait too long." This prompts the Becks to act quickly and secure Leol's housing needs as soon as possible.

Leol's son, Jayson Corson, drives Leol Corson 45 minutes to where the Beck's were staying in Freeport, Maine so that Leol could talk to us more about his desire to have us purchase his home.

In the presence of four members of the family, a Purchase contract is agreed upon and signed, and Leol returns to Bristol to provide this contract to his attorney, Jim Gallagher.

The Corson family held another family meeting to discuss the further plans around this purchase. In this meeting, Jayson and Kerstin Corson (Jill's aunt and uncle) expressed their desire to move back to the area from their home in Howland, Maine so they could be closer to their daughter Katie Corson and grandson Jayson Benner.

As a family, we talked about the possibility of having Jayson and Kerstin live in the home until November of 2017 at which time the Becks would move into the home with Leol.

We proposed the idea to Leol and he loved this idea - it seemed to everyone that it was a solution to both Leol Corson, Jayson Corson, and Kerstin Corson's wishes.

Jim Gallagher sends email to the Becks that he has finished having Leol sign all documents at Leol's residence, and that per Leol's request he created another document which assured Leol had the right to remain in his own home for the rest of his life.

Gallagher comments that "You two are doing a really wonderful thing here."

The Becks finalize the purchase of Leol Corson's home, paying off not only Leol's mortgage but also a lien against the house (a lien from a collection agency on the home), all closing costs including Leol's portion, and signed the Living Arrangement Agreement so that Leol could live in this home for the rest of his life.

Jill Beck volunteers to aid in dinner dish cleanup. Kerstin Corson insists she has dishes under control, and directs Jill to go spend time with her grandfather.

Later than evening, after Kerstin's nightly vodka mix, she gets upset that she had to do the dishes alone.

Jayson became upset asking the Beck's what they "gave up" for Leol.

Jayson and Kerstin asked the Becks for some help at the house. After a few hours with Leol in his wood shop, Leol expressed his desire to reach more of his raw wood collection so he could more easily make his wooden toys.

The Becks spent hours helping Leol rearrange his garage, including making rolling carts for wood storage and wall racks that Leol could access things easier without a ladder. They also organized garage items so that everything was easier to find and quickly put to use.

As Jayson and Kerstin returned home, Jayson became furious that things in the garage were moved without his express permission, despite Leol's own request to perform the improvements to his own workspace.

Jayson falsely states to the Beck's "This isn't your house!" when in fact it was, and everyone living in that home did so for free.

In another fit of rage, Jayson becomes upset at the Becks after they asked him for some help with an activity they were doing with Leol.

Stating "I'm Busy!" Jayson stormed up to his wife Kerstin speaking briefly with her, then disappeared inside.

Later, the Becks begin conversations with Jayson and Kerstin that they needed to find their own place sooner than November, and everyone agreed to speed up the process where the Beck's could move in sooner to alleviate further conflict.

Leol grants his consent to put a gravel pad near the garage for the Beck's to use as parking as they plan the move on site.

After two weeks of excavation work, Kerstin Corson suddenly appears in the work area during the removal of a rotten stump. After a cordial "Hi" from Jill, Kerstin responds "Don't talk to me!"

Ceasing work on the rotten stump, the Becks sit down and visit with Kerstin Corson on the back porch of the property. Reeking of alcohol Kerstin roars, "That was MY tree! You have no right to tear our my tree! This is MY house!"

The Becks decide that evening that the proposal to allow Jayson and Kerstin to live in the home was a mistake, and both Jayson and Kerstin were verbally asked to leave the home before police were called.

Jayson and Kerstin, unable to secure housing for themselves, secretly convince Leol to leave his own home - thus providing new housing for the three of them, so that Jayson and Kerstin can stay in the Bristol area.

Leol Corson signs a Bill of Sale purchase agreement for a 1979 single wide mobile home in Pemaquid Villas Coop trailer park for a purchase price of $4000.

It was too late, Leol Corson had been so convinced he would not listen to any other advice or feedback from anyone other than Jayson and Kerstin Corson.

Eviction notices were delivered to Jayson and Kerstin Corson in an effort to remove them from the property and separate them from Leol Corson.

It's discovered that all of three of them (even Leol) are actively planning a variety of options to retaliate against the Becks for asking Jayson and Kerstin to leave.

The Becks learn that Leol Corson, Jayson Corson, and Kerstin Corson moved out of the house through at email from Leol Corson's attorney Jim Gallagher.

Jim Gallagher threatens to use of the Improvident Transfer Act despite his recommendation to the Becks and his own legal representation of Leol thoughout the transaction.

Leol Corson, under the influence of Jayson and Kerstin, submits court filings against the Becks for the Maine Improvident Transfer of Title Act alleging that he was tricked into this transaction.

Because of his age, and that the transaction for his home was made to other members of his family, Leol lied his way through qualifying for a completely free legal service who represented him throughout the case.

Further allegations included many falsehoods made up by Leol, John, Jayson, and Kerstin about Leol's circumstances and why the Beck's offered to help him, and the Beck's offer to help Jayson and Kerstin return to the Bristol area..

This lawsuit even stated that Jayson and Kerstin owned the mobile home, despite evidence showing otherwise!

All parties attend a mediation conference held in Augusta, Maine.

Expecting a quick resolution, the Becks met fully prepared to transition the home back into Leol's name and a proposal to sell the home and divide any proceeds.

Denis Culley, Leol's free attorney, immediately states "Leol has not interest in getting his house back." Later, Mr. Culley also threatens that this lawsuit costs Leol nothing but would be very costly to the Becks.

Leol's refusal other creative options, which only reaffirm his intent to cause harm to the Becks.

Unable to reach an agreement, the Becks have no choice but to seek a judge's assistance in finding truth in courtroom proceedings.

After months of trial preparations and witness depositions, the Becks serve court summons upon all of the parties who participated in lies throughout Leol's legal claim, including attorney Jim Gallagher.

Kerstin Corson reacts furiously at the reception of court summons. She is found calling ahead to others, warning them to hide and resist court paperwork.

John Corson was summoned to court, but tried to throw his summons paperwork back into the delivery car.

Jayson Corson hid out at the home of his daughter, Katie Corson, who had just placed hand made "No Trespassing" signs in her driveway in order to refuse service on her father. Katie later testified in Jayson's stead, who never could muster the courage to face the truth or the judge.

A lengthy three day trial concludes, with sworn testimony from dozens of witnesses that testified about the property's condition, the transparency surrounding the purchase, Leol Corson's reputation and behavior, and against his many lies.

Leol's attorney, Jim Gallagher, admits that Leol knew exactly what he was doing throughout the purchase, and Jim felt no reason to stop the transaction from continuing.

At the conclusion, the judge remarks that he feels bad for the Becks noting "No one can hurt you like family."
